Initially, eight nations applied to host the event, from which the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) approved Iran, Singapore, Indonesia and Denmark as finalists.

Iran’s candidacy was supported by Tourism Department of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), in cooperation with Iran Tourist Guides Association, Iranian Tour Operators Association and a number of travel offices.

Mohsen Haji-Saeed, the deputy head of the Association of Iranian Tourist Guides Guilds, said the committee conducted the designing, estimated the cost and provided English content for the related website.

“It also made an advertising film to introduce Iran and its tourist destinations,” he said.
